What is AdBlue®?
AdBlue® is a special non-toxic synthetic urea solution used to chemically reduce NOx emissions from diesel-powered heavy-duty vehicles.
What is the AdBlue® Consumption of a Vehicle?
The amount of adblue consumption of each vehicle is different. But in large commercial vehicles, this rate is 6% of the fuel burned. For example, when the vehicle consumes 100 litres of diesel fuel, it consumes around 5-6 litres of adblue.
What Happens If AdBlue® Runs Out?
If the AdBlue® tank is empty, this will cause the permitted emission levels to be exceeded and the catalyst will be damaged in a short time. Vehicle will lose traction, limiting engine power, and will not return to normal until AdBlue is refilled.
Is AdBlue® Corrosive?
The product is partially alkaline with a pH value of approx. 9.0 and should therefore not come into direct contact with aluminium, brass, mild steel. Stainless Steel and Plastic tanks and fittings are recommended in accordance with AUS32. It is partially alkaline with a pH value of approximately 9.0 and may cause irritation on prolonged skin contact. In case of contact with eyes, eyes should be washed with plenty of water. Cleaning methods are mechanical collection and accumulation in suitable containers for disposal. Please dispose of in accordance with local and national regulations. The best way to dispose of crystallisation or spillages is to rinse with water. When rinsing with water, make sure that it is well sealed to avoid any contamination of the solution. If AdBlue® spills on automotive paint, clean the surface with water and ensure that the paint is cleaned. If AdBlue® dries and crystallises on the paint, surface corrosion may occur. Do not pour into the garbage, environment or sewerage system.
